LOCATION: Eighty Four, PA 

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development, communication, implementation, and monitoring of safety and environmental programs to protect the organization's most important assets: its people, its equipment and facilities, and ultimately its reputation. Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, act as a resource and subject matter expert for employees in matters relating to occupational safety and environmental related concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing leadership for the development, communication, implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental programs.
  • Provide vision, leadership, and technical expertise in the areas of occupational safety; advise management on loss control and risk reduction strategies.
  • Trains, mentors, and coaches management and employees as well as monitoring site practices and conditions.
  • Communicates effectively to maintain clear lines of communication and consistent execution of programs.
  • Support safe practices daily with a visible presence in all areas.
  • Lead incident investigations wherever needed; assure that fire control and other safety equipment is properly tested, inspected, posted and marked; assure that hazardous materials are handled, stored and disposed of appropriately.
  • Coordinate the response to all federal and/or state regulatory agency inquiries or inspections; represent the organization in the community and in industry occupational safety groups and programs.
  • Track and provide insight into common issues, trends, problems, and opportunities to reduce losses and incident costs; maintain information and performance measurement systems to ensure that loss information is tracked and effectively communicated.
  • Interfaces with regulatory agencies and outside vendors as necessary to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain site permits and assure operating compliance.
  • Identifies and implements best practices.
  • Review internal occupational safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate.
  • Participate in new product/process reviews including process hazard analyses, operator training, etc.
  • Promote environmental health & safety awareness through internal specific training programs
  • Manage compliance with all federal, state, and local, air, water, waste water, and hazardous waste regulations.
  • Act as the primary resource for the implementation and enforcement of all aspects of the Behavior Based Safety program.
  • Provide synergy and an integrated effort for the implementation of an on-going safety improvement process that includes pre-injury loss prevention strategies; provide facility emergency response services as part of emergency coordinator team; lead the Safety Committee and monitor facility committees.
  • Provide Injury/Incident Management services as required
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Educational and Other Requirements:

  • Degree in Health, Safety and Environmental or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2 years Safety and Environmental experience preferred
  • General Health, Safety, and Environmental knowledge
  • Preferred experience in Oil & Gas Industry, EHS operations
  • Knowledge with Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Sensitive to confidential information
  • Must work independently and as a member of team

Mental and Physical Requirements:

  • Able to read, speak and write English.
  • Ability to use sophisticated computer software programs to achieve job functions.
  • Sitting at desk or computer station, standing, walking, speaking, listening - frequent
  • Bending/stooping, twisting, lifting - occasional.
  • Gripping, reaching, writing, fingering (data entry), handling (paper, files, etc) - frequent
  • Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
  • Fine Motor Skills - typing, ability to write for extended periods of time.
  • Communication - phone communication, communication with personnel and vendors.
  • Seeing - able to see the computer screen.
  • Climbing - able to go up and down stairs.
  • Position will require a minimum of 40 hours per week unless otherwise directed by supervisor.
