The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) is accepting applications for the position of Education Programs Manager in the Department of Learning and Engagement. The Programs and Events Assistant supports the Learning and Engagement Division with managing museum programs and special events. The Education Programs Manager collaborates with NOMA colleagues, learning partners, and content experts to create innovative and meaningful learning experiences, including gallery talks, lectures, tours, workshops, and other educational programming aligned with the museum's mission and collections. SUMMARY
The Education Programs Manager develops, implements, and manages interpretive resources and programs for the Education Division in the New Orleans Museum of Art's Learning & Engagement Department of the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA, through their rich and varied museum programming. The Education Programs Manager collaborates with NOMA colleagues, learning partners, and content experts to create innovative and meaningful learning experiences, including gallery talks, lectures, tours, workshops, and other educational programming aligned with the museum's mission and collections.
In addition to designing and conducting learning experiences, the Education Programs Manager coordinates and supervises the implementation of all learning programs, develops teacher training materials, and manages the Volunteer Docent Program. The Education Programs Manager reports to the Chief Educator and supervises the Associate Educators, Education Assistants, and Learning Programs Division Consultants
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Develop, implement, and manage interpretive resources and programs
● Design and conduct collections and exhibition programming, including tours, lectures, workshops, and seminars.
● Identify, develop, and facilitate learning partnerships with area educational institutions.
● In collaboration with Associate Educators, develop teacher training materials and program resources.
● Provide regular budget updates to the Chief Educator of Learning & Engagement.
● Supervise the Learning Division, programmatic staff, and consultants
● Manage the volunteer Docent program in collaboration with the Docent AdHoc Committee
● Work collaboratively on a variety of projects across the museum as needed by the Chief Educator of Learning & Engagement
● Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications department on writing, editing, and proofreading.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
● Master's Degree in Museum Education, Art History, Museum Studies, Art Education, and Education with experience in informal learning. Cultural Heritage Management experience is a plus.
● Demonstrated experience in an education leadership role
● Proactive and creative problem solver
