Overview

We are seeking an Instructors for ECE Program, the ECE Instructor will provide a high-quality academic environment using effective teaching and learning techniques in accordance with the college’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, prepare and deliver quality classroom instruction utilizing the approved curriculum. 

  • Inform students about course requirements, evaluation procedures, and policies.

  • Utilize active learning techniques to ensure the various learning needs of the individual students are met.

  • Develop/follow an instructional plan (lesson plan) for the course(s) and ensure that it meets industry, college and department standards.

  • Actively participate in Discipline committee to update curriculum to industry standards as requested.

  • Keep up-to-date with, and effectively use, relevant technology and media in classes.

  • Deliver dynamic and engaging lessons and use effective motivation to help stimulate a personal desire in students to learn the subject.

  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.

  • Create and foster a safe, positive classroom environment and inclusive space for all learners to express themselves.

  • Provide students with academic support and refer them to additional assistance as required.

  • Develop and maintain emergency lesson plans in case of unexpected absences.

  • Develop strategies to achieve assigned retention rates and course completion rates as per college guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate student records in the student management system including accurate and timely submission of all attendance reports, grades, student advising forms, at-risk forms, according to established guidelines.

  • Act as a mentor for students by developing action plans to assist students in achieving their goals in line with college policies.

  • Ensure strict adherence to data protection laws and college policies.

  • Attend faculty/staff meetings, workshops, and graduation ceremonies.

  • Engage in performance appraisals.

  • Support active interdepartmental cooperation with other departments such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Practicum and Career Services.

  • Perform other duties/participate in special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Early Childhood Education (ECE) preferred.

  • ECE III certification required.

  • Teaching experience/and or possession of an Instructor’s certificate is an asset.

  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire students, and the ability to develop rapport with a diverse population.

  • Confident and self-managing, able to work independently and in a team environment,

  • Efficient with strong organizational skills.

  • Dependable and punctual in meeting job responsibilities.

  • Approachable and able to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.

  • Adaptable and flexible, available to work days, evenings, and weekends as needed.

  • Multicultural sensitivity/awareness in working with diverse students.

  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Google Apps.
