Early Childhood Lead Judaic Studies Teacher 2024-25

About the Position

Akiba Yavneh Academy (AYA), a coeducational, early childhood through 12th-grade school located in Dallas, Texas, seeks an experienced Early Childhood Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education. AYA believes early childhood education is a fundamental building block in creating successful lifelong learners. The classroom teacher is one of the most critical drivers of student success and AYA is committed to compensating, developing, and supporting its teaching staff.

Responsibilities of an AYA Early Childhood Teacher

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver religious and academic lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate learning and growth in a safe, healthy, supportive, and respectful learning environment.
  • Plan an emergent curriculum that is consistent with the school-wide mission, vision, and philosophy while being highly individualized to the individual classroom and its students.
  • Utilize different approaches to learning to differentiate based on both individual and group needs.
  • Establish a classroom culture that fosters strong student/teacher relationships with classroom rituals, routines, and procedures to ensure an orderly, positive, and productive learning environment.
  • Provide appropriate and ongoing feedback to students, parents, and administration on student growth and progress through formal and informal channels of communication such as daily parent interactions in carpool and parent-teacher meetings.
  • Capture student activities and milestones throughout each school day to create and communicate with families through daily student reflections.
  • Develop and foster proactive, positive, and productive relationships with families.  
  • Observe children's behavior and use these observations to guide individual student learning strategically and proactively by allowing children to naturally develop and learn new skills and understanding.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, mentors, instructional coach, and administration to create rich and developmentally appropriate activities and lessons consistent with the curriculum standards of a NAEYC-accredited early childhood program.
  • Attend and participate in professional development offerings provided within the early childhood department and school-wide in-service days.
  • Collaborate with the early childhood administration to create individual professional development plans, including annual growth goals.
  • Uphold the philosophy, principles, policies, and procedures of the AYA Early Childhood program and represent AYA positively in the school community and the wider community.

 

Traits & Qualifications of an AYA Early Childhood Teacher

  • Bachelor's Degree is required preferably in early childhood education and/or development. Candidates in the process of getting their degree with a CDA may be considered.
  • At least five years of experience teaching early childhood-aged children. A combination of assisting and lead teaching will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of early childhood growth and development with the ability to articulate and employ this knowledge in both group and individual classroom settings.
  • Proficiency in English language required.
  • Proficiency in Hebrew language preferred.
  • Values Limmud HaTorah as a core personal value.
  • A positive, energetic approach to teaching and working with young people.
  • Effective and personable communication style conducive to interacting with students, parents, colleagues, and other members of the Akiba Yavneh community.
  • A growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Proven track record of punctual attendance, meeting performance goals and expectations, and the ability to work together with colleagues and team members positively and collaboratively. 
  • CPR/Infant CPR, and First Aid Certification.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
