DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for a regular, part-time position: Early Childhood Educator. Reporting to the Manager Women, Families, and Community Health, the Early Childhood Educator provides a caring and positive learning environment for children in childcare programs. The primary responsibilities for this position are planning, preparing, and delivery of daily early childhood educational activities.

The Opportunity:
As part of the Language Programs team, the Early Childhood Educator provides a caring and positive learning environment for children in the childcare programs. The primary responsibilities for this position are planning, preparing and delivery of daily early childhood educational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plans, carries out, and evaluates developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children using modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing techniques.
• Identifies the abilities, interests, and needs of children and develops individualized and group curriculum based on these Monitors and assesses the developmental needs of the children regularly and implements attainable goals to help with the development and growth of each child.
• Ensures a physically and emotionally healthy and Safe environment in which children can interact and play
• Develops daily program schedules that include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual and group activities.
• Prepares materials and equipment for activities and maintains the cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
• Ensures the safety and hygiene of all children while in the center.
• Administers first aid in accordance with established policy as required
• Adheres to Centre’s guidelines for discipline and managing behaviors appropriately.
• Immediately reports instances of suspected child abuse to Manager or designate.
• Adheres to DIVERSEcity and personnel policies, procedures, and practices.
• Fosters and maintains good communication with parents and provides parenting information to parents and refers them to other services if required.
• Plans and delivers educational workshops for parents as required.
• Attends team and DIVERSEcity meetings and participates in multi-disciplinary committee work.
• Stays up to date of current developments in the ECE field and continues to upgrade professional skills.
• Perform all other duties as directed by supervisor/ designate
Qualified Candidates will possess:
- Certificate in Early Childhood Education;
- Two years’ experience working in a day care environment or similar;
- Early Childhood Educators license to practice;
- Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of young children;
- Multicultural or cross-cultural experience;
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
- Standard First Aid training;
- TB test clearance;
A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
