Drafting Technician Summer Student
Dawson Civil is looking to hire a Drafting Technician to join our drafting team!
In this role you will be a valued member of Dawson Civil, working in a permanent, full-time position as a Drafting Technician, reporting to the Manager, Survey. As the Drafting Technician, you will be responsible for the delivery of information and technical documentation to the project teams to ensure that the work complies with all project specifications. Your base location will be Kamloops, BC and may require some travel throughout our great province.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- Prepare 2D and 3D (AutoCAD/Civil3D) designs and drafting for utilities, roadways, and site.
- Perform and document quality control checks on CAD drafting and Civil 3D.
- Calculate design quantities for materials and preparation of cost estimates.
- Providing quick and practical details/sketches for construction.
- Document and organize all necessary project records and supporting documentation for permanent records.
- Effective daily management of the ‘Design activities’ regarding the schedule to ensure the provision of required deliverables for the project.
- Review and write design reports and memos.
- Attend progress meetings, discuss, and suggest technical proposals.
- Track and align the design with the cost base line.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D; working experience with Trimble Business Center, Topcon Link/Magnet Office, and Excel.
- Excellent technical, communication, organizational, and planning skills.
- Knowledge of basic to medium civil design calculations.
- Excellent attention to detail to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Comfortable in working to meet tight deadlines.
- Able to provide cost effective value engineering to the project.
- Willingness to learn.
