A dozer operator, also known as a heavy equipment operator, operates a bulldozer to move and level materials at construction sites and other industrial operations. Their responsibilities include:
- Operating the dozer: Using the tractor and the shovel or blade on the front of the vehicle to move soil, rocks, and debris
- Following instructions: Receiving guidance from a foreman or site supervisor
- Maintaining safety: Following safety procedures and guidelines
- Performing maintenance: Performing routine maintenance and basic repairs on the equipment
- Reading blueprints: Interpreting blueprints, maps, and drawings to determine work requirements
Communicating: Collaborating with other team members to ensure project success
Keeping records: Completing daily logs and reports to track equipment usage and maintenance
Dozer operators may also operate other types of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, dump trucks, or excavators.
