Position Overview
The Director of Reimbursement is responsible for leading all reimbursement strategy, operations, and compliance functions across the organization. This role provides strategic guidance on payment systems, ensures maximum appropriate reimbursement, and develops policies that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive reimbursement strategies to optimize revenue cycle performance
- Lead contract negotiations with public and private payers to secure favorable reimbursement rates
- Analyze reimbursement trends, payment methodologies, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and risks
- Oversee charge master maintenance and pricing strategies to ensure competitiveness and compliance
- Direct the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to billing and collections
- Partner with clinical and operational teams to ensure documentation supports appropriate reimbursement
- Provide expertise on coding, billing, and reimbursement requirements across service lines
- Lead initiatives to improve claims processing, reduce denials, and enhance revenue capture
- Collaborate with finance leadership on budget forecasting and financial planning
- Represent the organization in industry forums and with regulatory agencies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or related field preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare reimbursement, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
- Deep understanding of payment methodologies including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Proven track record of developing successful reimbursement strategies
- Experience with healthcare financial analysis and revenue cycle management
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations including CMS guidelines
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex reimbursement concepts to various stakeholders
