What You’ll Bring to the Role:
  • Current unencumbered RN license (Texas)

  • Leadership experience in nursing administration, rehab, and care coordination

  • Deep understanding of state & federal nursing home regulations

  • Proven ability to manage, motivate, and mentor nursing teams

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • A calm, decisive presence in high-pressure situations

  • Commitment to quality, compliance, and resident-centered care

  • Willingness to be on-call 24/7 and available on weekends and holidays

  • Familiarity with audits, incident reporting, safety protocols, and interdisciplinary teamwork

Core Responsibilities:

🔹 Clinical Operations Leadership

  • Oversee all daily nursing activities to ensure safe, high-quality, and compliant care is provided to every resident.

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and proper skill mix on all shifts.

  • Monitor and support clinical interventions, wound care programs, medication administration, and infection control efforts.

🔹 Regulatory Compliance & Survey Readiness

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state and federal regulations related to long-term care.

  • Lead the team in continuous survey readiness, managing all documentation, care planning, and quality assurance processes in line with CMS guidelines and standards.

  • Take prompt corrective action in response to any deficiencies or audits.

🔹 Team Development & Coaching

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and ongoing evaluation of the nursing team including RNs, LVNs, and CNAs.

  • Facilitate staff orientation, in-service education, and professional development to foster clinical excellence and retention.

  • Set expectations, deliver feedback, and hold team members accountable with fairness and clarity.

🔹 Resident Advocacy & Family Engagement

  • Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, and families—ensuring concerns are addressed with empathy, urgency, and professionalism.

  • Participate in resident care planning meetings and coordinate with other departments to deliver a holistic, person-centered approach.

  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the building and establish trust with residents and their loved ones.

🔹 Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI)

  • Analyze trends, clinical outcomes, and incident reports to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead quality assurance meetings and actively contribute to the development and implementation of improvement initiatives.

  • Monitor infection prevention, falls, rehospitalizations, weight loss, skin integrity, and more.

🔹 Crisis & Incident Management

  • Lead the nursing response in emergency or unexpected situations, ensuring quick action and clear communication.

  • Investigate, document, and resolve incidents in a timely, compliant, and compassionate manner.

  • Collaborate with administrators and department heads to manage complex resident needs or family dynamics.

🔹 Strategic & Fiscal Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Administrator and interdisciplinary leadership team to align staffing models, resources, and clinical programming with budgetary goals.

  • Manage nursing department expenses responsibly, including supplies, agency staffing, and labor hours.

  • Participate in the hiring, retention, and promotion decisions for clinical staff.
