Bear Creek Nursing and Rehab Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee our clinical team and ensure the delivery of high-quality resident care. We’re looking for an experienced leader with strong skilled nursing facility (SNF) expertise, the ability to positively shape employee culture, and a passion for resident-centered care.

General Purpose

The DON organizes, directs, and oversees the work of the nursing team, ensuring compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and clinical best practices. This position carries administrative and managerial responsibility for the functions, activities, and training of the nursing department to maintain the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to all nursing staff.

  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and CMS regulations.

  • Maintain survey readiness and oversee quality assurance, infection control, and safety programs.

  • Mentor, coach, and support staff, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.

  • Manage nursing operations including staffing, training, scheduling, and clinical programming.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update individualized resident care plans.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to best practices in clinical care.

  • Represent the nursing department in facility meetings and with families, vendors, and community partners.

Qualifications
  • Current, unencumbered RN license in Florida (required).

  • Valid CPR certification (maintained throughout employment).

  • Minimum 3–5 years nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF).

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills in nursing administration and employee relations.

  • Knowledge of abuse/neglect regulations, survey requirements, and compliance standards.

  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement nursing programs, policies, and procedures.

  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of medical/nursing practices and regulatory standards for nursing homes.

  • Must agree to participate in on-call duties and work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

  • Physical ability to lift 60–70 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and manage emergency procedures.

  • Ability to foster positive relationships with residents, families, and staff through tactful, professional communication.
