Summary:

 The Director of Housekeeper is responsible for directing the housekeeping department of the hotel to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of guest rooms, common areas and grounds.  In addition, they must direct the laundry department to ensure needs for the entire operation are met, including keeping accurate and ample inventory to ensure a smooth operation.

Essential Job Functions and Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure and maintain cleanliness, service and product quality standards of guest rooms, public spaces, restrooms, offices and banquet/meeting/conference rooms in accordance with federal, local and company health, sanitation and safety standards
  • Direct laundry operation to ensure smooth operation.  Maintain accurate and sufficient inventory.
  • Lead, direct and administer all Housekeeping operations to include, but not limited to, of systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, inventory control, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement and meeting participation and facilitation
  • Monitor and develop team member performance to include, but not limited to, providing supervision and professional development, scheduling, conducting counseling and evaluations and delivering recognition and reward
  • Recruit, interview and train team members
  • Work closely with Engineering team to maintain room and public space quality in line with luxury hotel standards
  • Ensure proper usage of chemicals and cleaning supplies by monitoring usage, providing complete training for team members and ensuring proper labeling of hazardous supplies in accordance with federal, state, local and company regulations

 

Qualifications Required:

  •  A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • 3+ years of progressive Hotel Housekeeping Management experience
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills 

Qualifications Desired:

  • Prior experience working at a seasonal Hotel or Resort
  • Prior experience as an Executive Housekeeper/Director of Housekeeping at a property with at least 100 rooms
  • Previous guest relations training/Forbes Training
  • CPR certification
  • Familiarization with HotSOS
