Director of Food Services
Job Summary
The primary role of the Director of Food Services is to manage the food service department in the facility according to The Allure Group policies and procedures, and federal/state requirements.
As Director of Food Services, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize and direct activities of department; develop its goals and objectives
· Implement necessary changes to improve services, simplify workflow and assure compliance with regulatory, NY City, State and Federal requirements
· Oversee preparation of employee work schedule to ensure most effective usage of staff. Monitor staff usage
· Select, train, evaluate, counsel and discipline staff consistent with Human Resource policies and procedures
· Evaluate and justify equipment and supply needs and purchases; select and purchase equipment and supplies within budgetary restraints
· Assign responsibility, meet with and delegate authority to manager/Supervisors on regular basis
· Implement food production systems and food quality controls to ensure customer satisfaction and decrease waste
· Develop, schedule, and conduct in-service training classes, on the job training, and orientation classes for staff in collaboration with staff development
· Establish and maintain safety, infection control and environmental control policies and procedures for the department
Staff Development
· Develop and participate in the planning, conducting, and scheduling of timely in-service training classes that provide instructions on "how to do the job", and ensures a well-educated food service department
· Develop, implement, and maintain an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to the department, its policies and procedures, and to his/her job position and duties
· Attend and participate in continuing educational programs designed to keep you abreast of changes in your profession, as well as to maintain your license on a current status
· Ensure that all department personnel attend and participate in annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard as well as all other Allure Group mandated trainings including but not limited to fire safety, infection control, disaster preparedness, MSDS, HIPAA etc.
Education
· Associates from an accredited college or university
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
· Registered Dietitian with American Dietetic Association (preferred)
Experience
· Five years of Supervisory experience in a health care facility dietary department
