Job Purpose/Description:  A full time, exempt status fundraising professional responsible for the development program who provides oversight for the supervision and control of the functions of that department including planning, budgeting, proposal preparation, direct mail, constituency outreach, marketing, media relations, community and public awareness, and special events and Board development and cultivation.  Provides supervision to the Grant Officer and the Marketing and Development Coordinator.

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in the implementation of the long-range resource development plan for Community Hope Inc., based on the strategies and goals defined in the Strategic Plan.
  • Prepare and monitor a development action plan and analyze the success of the various development programs and make recommendations to the Executive Director.  Works closely with the Board to increase Community Hope’s donor base.
  • Responsible for overseeing the grants programs by planning, organizing and implement a Federal, State, County, corporate and foundation grants program.
  • Prepare external publications including Annual Reports, newsletters, brochures, etc., and Media Releases.  Use press contacts to place human interest and feature articles.
  • Increase awareness through a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that will strengthen Community Hope’s ability to meet its operating and service goals in the community for public awareness and fundraising.  This program would include direct mail, phone/mail, and special events.
  • Work closely with Community Hope’s senior leadership team in identifying, recruiting and educating Board and volunteer leadership committee.
  • Responsible for continued and established success of corporate fund-raising events and collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions.
  • Recruit and organize a volunteer force for implementing Community Hope’s special events and other special campaigns.
  • The candidate will conform to the ethical principles and standards of professional practice, as adopted by the National Association of Fundraising Professionals.
  • Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program.
  • Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders and all stakeholders as needed.
  • Develop print marketing materials related to fundraising in collaboration with our marketing efforts and awareness efforts.
  • Perform all other duties and responsibilities associated with the position and as assigned by the Executive Director.

 Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and five years of fundraising and communications experience in non-profit development, planning, and implementation.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills; customer service oriented with the ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities and work effectively in a deadline driven environment; accuracy and attention to detail in the performance of duties is of critical importance.
  • Recent experience in planning and securing grants as well as organizing and implementing comprehensive community outreach programs.
  • Demonstrated experience with an automated database system that includes Abila, constant contact or like fundraising software.   
  • Proven record of accomplishment of raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies.
  • Experience in donor cultivation, grant writing, contracts management, and special events.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes and a results-oriented culture.
