JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITON:  Director of Community Safety Initiatives

Department:  Workforce Development

The Director of Community Safety Initiatives at Living Classrooms Foundation is responsible for strategically guiding and managing community-based violence initiatives at the Foundation.  This candidate must be able to communicate effectively with community partners, government agencies, and the community on strategies as it relates to community-based violence intervention programming.  Utilizes knowledge of the issue of community-based violence to meet the program objectives.  Provides input and direction to ensure the success of the program.  Collaborate with identified communities most negatively impacted by violence, specifically gun violence.  Develop strong partnerships and ensure program transparency and accountability.  The Director of Community Safety Initiatives reports to the Managing Director of Workforce Development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Builds effective working relationships across a diverse array of community partners, internal stakeholders, and system allies to create support for and participation in developing and implementing community-driven strategies and related opportunities that are data-driven, reliable, and evaluated.

·         Manages and supervises the staff of the Crisis Management Team Operation Respond.

·         Builds and maintains relationships across the gun violence prevention community, including with local, state, and federal legislators; gun violence prevention advocates; and allied nongovernmental and policy organizations.

·         Communicates effectively with inclusive groups of community stakeholders, including those with lived experiences.

·         Leads and participates in grant seeking and revenue enhancements to sustain programs and drive budget development efforts for the program.

·         Ensures all Grant related reporting requirements are met.

·         Performs other related duties as assigned.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to establish working relationships with relevant stakeholders.

·         Ability to work creatively and strategically.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well independently and part of a team and with other organizations.

·         Ability to use computer software as related to office practices including electronic word processing, database, and spreadsheet packages. 

·         Strong organizational and time management capabilities. 



MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

·         Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience in the CVIP.
