Job Description
The Director of Academic and Career Coaching is responsible for leading and managing the Academic and Career Coaching Center, ensuring that students receive comprehensive support to achieve their academic and career goals. This position will oversee the development, implementation, and assessment of coaching programs, providing strategic direction and operational management. The Director will collaborate with the Dean of Academics, the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, and external partners to create a holistic support system that promotes student academic success and career readiness. The Director of Academic and Career Coaching, reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, has the following responsibilities including but not limited to and spread over the following areas:
1. Leadership and Management:
· Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Academic and Career Coaching Center.
· Develop, implement, and assess coaching programs and services to meet the diverse needs of students.
· Supervise, train, and evaluate coaching staff, ensuring professional development and high performance.
· Manage the center's budget, resources, and operational processes.
2. Program Development and Implementation:
· Design and oversee academic and career coaching initiatives, workshops, and events.
· Develop resources and materials to support students' career exploration, and job search strategies.
· Implement evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to coaching.
3. Student Support and Engagement:
· Provide direct coaching to students on academic planning, career development, and personal growth.
· Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student engagement and success.
· Collaborate with the Dean of Student Affairs to identify and address student needs and challenges.
4. Partnerships and Collaboration:
· Establish and maintain partnerships with employers, alumni, and community organizations to enhance internship and career opportunities for students.
· Collaborate with academic departments, advising centers, and other student services to integrate coaching support.
5. Assessment and Reporting:
· Develop and implement assessment tools to measure the effectiveness of coaching programs and services.
· Analyze data and prepare reports on student outcomes, program impact, and areas for improvement.
· Use assessment results to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
· Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in academic advising, career coaching, or student services in a higher education setting.
· Certification in academic coaching or career coaching (e.g., Inside Track, Global Career Development Facilitator [GCDF]).
Skills
· Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of developing and implementing successful programs.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build effective partnerships.
· Knowledge of career development theories, academic advising practices, and student development principles.
· Experience with assessment, data analysis, and reporting.
· Experience with technology and tools used in academic and career coaching (e.g., CRM systems, career assessment platforms).
