Direct Support Professional (DSP), In-Home
Weekly Schedule:
Monday - Friday (4:30pm - 8:30pm)
Saturday & Sunday (10am - 7:30pm)
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team and provide high-quality care and support to an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The DSP will empower the individual we support to excel to their fullest potential in all aspects of their life. The successful candidate will have experience with behavior and emotional coping strategies and redirection. They will have strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. The Direct Support Professional will be dedicated and reliable, and will ensure the health, safety and on-going growth of the individual at all times.
Responsibilities:

Ensure consistent, person-centered support
- Assist with daily activities, such as bathing and toileting
- Administer medication as prescribed

Provide or assist with transportation to appointments and other activities as needed

Participate in recreational activities, including outings and community events
- Deliver needs-based support according to individual plans and programming

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided
- Complete all required shift documentation including, but not limited to, Daily Log Notes, Outcomes, MARs, Heath Needs Records and Incident Reports

Collaborate with other team members to ensure continuity of care and services
- Abide by all organization policies and procedures and all DHS requirements under MN 245D

Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
-
Cleared DHS Background Study
- Valid driver's license, current insurance and reliable transportation
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a direct support professional or in a similar role

Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Ability to multitask and handle a high-volume workload

Ability to work collaboratively with families and other team members

Ability to learn and utilize required technology
Job Demands & Conditions:
-
Must arrive to work on time and complete the duration of all regularly scheduled shifts
-
Shifts will vary including mornings, days and evenings
-
Shifts may include sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time
-
Shifts will involve actively engaging with the individual in their preferred activities (walking, drawing, playing catch, etc.)

Shifts may include routine cleaning tasks
-
Personal phone use must be limited to breaks, emergencies and supervisor-approved times
-
Shifts may involve regular travel in the community using personal vehicle
-
Shifts will involve regular contact the with service recipients, family members, fellow team members and the general public

May be subject to physically aggressive and/or emotionally upset individuals
-
Must be able to bend and lift up to 50 pounds
