Dietary Aide
Heritage Manor is a privately owned personal care home located in the south hills of Pittsburgh. We are looking for a dynamic person to join our dietary services team! The dietary aide position is a part time position, about 30 hours a week.
- Hours consist of 3 days from 9 am to 6:30 pm with a split shift on Friday.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
- Must have a clear PA State background check in accordance with OAPSA.
This position is primarily responsible to maintain the cleanliness and condition of the serving ware, kitchen equipment, kitchen and to properly set and clear tables in the resident dining room area , while assisting in the serving of meals and beverages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Set all dining tables.
2. Fill beverage cups for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner meal.
3. Make and serve coffee.
4. Assist in serving of meals, following special dietary requirements as necessary.
5. Check, clean and fill sugar and tea caddies and salt and pepper shakers.
6. Place Creamer containers and condiments on each table
7. Remove creamer from tables prior to busing tables and store immediately in refrigerator.
8. Wash empty creamer containers and refill, returning them to refrigerator.
9. Check all creamer containers to ensure that none have spoiled. Discard any spoiled creamer, wash container and refill, returning to refrigerator.
10. Bus and clean dining tables.
11. Spot treat and Rotate tablecloths after each meal.
12. Wipe down the chairs in the dining room if there are crumbs or spills.
13. Wash dishes after each meal, including pots, pans, silverware, glasses, dishes.
14. Put all items away after being washed.
15. Clean and maintain beverage station, including coffee pots.
16. Maintain sanitary conditions at all times.
17. Stock storage cabinet with plastic utensils, napkins, tea bags, jelly, sugars, straws and placemats.
18. Sweep and mop kitchen floor
19. Deliver trays to residents with an illness if Resident Care Staff is unable to do so.
20. Ensure residents’ privacy is protected at all times.
21. Take out garbage.
22. Participate in all mandatory monthly in-services.
23. Actively participate in all fire drills and emergencies as they occur.
24. All other duties as assigned by manager or Administrator
Skills required: Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize task and the ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and residents. Close attention to detail is a must with the capability to organize and multitask. The skill to accept and benefit from critical reviews is necessary. Ability to deal with emergencies and to work in a crisis environment is requisite.
Educational Experience: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma preferred but not required. Must be at least 18 years of age with the proper supporting documents (Working Papers). Ability to read, write and speak English in order to understand and carry out instructions and effectively work with staff and residents.
Essential Functions: Stooping, sitting, bending, lifting (at least 50 pounds), carrying, steps, as well as other physical demands may be required.
May be exposed to chemicals and communicable diseases.
