About UsVeterans Engineering is seeking Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRT) to provide professional imaging services in support of the Northport VA Medical Center.
Open Positions-
General Radiography (X-ray, Fluoroscopy) & Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist

Magnetic Resonance Technologist (MR)
These are full-time positions with rotating tours of duty, including weekends and federal holidays.

Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Evening Shift: 3:30 PM – 12:00 Midnight

Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 8:00 AM (Sunday & Monday fixed nights; remaining shifts rotate)

Rotating weekends & holidays required

½ hour unpaid break per shift

Occasional overtime (pre-approved by Chief DRT)

Shift confirmations provided by VA 14 days in advance

Prepare patients for radiographic/sonographic procedures, providing education, reassurance, and support.

Perform diagnostic imaging examinations (X-ray, fluoroscopy, CT, MR) in accordance with VA procedures.

Ensure high-quality imaging through proper positioning, shielding, and artifact elimination.

Monitor patients for physical and emotional changes during exams; report abnormalities promptly.

Prepare and administer contrast agents when required.

Evaluate images for clarity and accuracy; correct as necessary.

Document work in patient information systems and PACS.

Clean, disinfect, and maintain equipment per SOPs; report malfunctions as needed.

Adhere to radiation protection, infection control, and safety protocols.

Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff.

Complete documentation in medical records for delayed cases, including corrective plans.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

License: Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice Radiologic Technology in any U.S. state, territory, or D.C.

Candidates with restricted, revoked, or previously surrendered licenses will not be considered.

Certification:
-
All DRTs must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT.

Specialty coverage requires advanced ARRT certification in CT.
-
MR technologists must hold advanced ARRT certification in MR.

Experience: Prior experience in general radiography, CT, or MR strongly preferred.

Other Requirements: Demonstrated professionalism, emotional tolerance, tact, and effective communication skills with patients, families, and coworkers.
