Position Details/Eligibility

These unpaid internships are available year-round. Up to six interns are needed each semester. Junior-, senior-, and graduate-level students attending any college or university in Kentucky and the southern Indiana region; and Kentucky residents attending a college or university out of state may apply.

10 hours per week (approximately 150 hours per semester) are required, although special arrangements may be made when school requirements differ.

Duties

Spring 2021 Intern Work Plan This internship will adhere to COVID-19 guidelines in place and are subject to change. All attempts will be made to make as much work as possible completed virtually for a hybrid internship.

Interns will gain an understanding of the following:

-  Individual Giving (including membership and major gifts)

        Annual Giving program

        Planned Giving campaign

-  Corporate Giving

-  Database entry and payment processing

-  Event planning/management

 

-  Fundraising communications 

Each intern participates in the production and execution of the following:

-  Events

        Telefund (On-Air Pledge Drive) – Production Assistant (graphics/photography, volunteer coordinator)

        Concerts – representing KET at event venues, as necessary

        Runner for Summer Celebration Auction Items

-  Database Management

        Updating donor information

        Gift entry and reconciliation

-  Annual Giving (Membership)

        Donor thank you gifts

                - Research, purchasing, and order fulfillment/shipping

        Family Fun Club

                -  Representing KET at community events, as necessary

                -  Creating a promotional plan

-  Writing and editing

        Direct mail solicitation samples

        Donor acknowledgements

        E-solicitations

        Web/social promotional copy

-  General Office Support

           Answering phones, returning calls

 

-  Other duties as assigned 

 

Interns will not be required to do any direct fund-raising, either by mail or through phone solicitation.

This internship is an opportunity to learn what it is like to run a major fund-raising department for a large statewide public television network. The emphasis will be on understanding efficient fund-raising practices and procedures and the management of a nonprofit organization.
