U.M. FDSP Associates is a non-profit affiliate of the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. U.M. FDSP Associates is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing for the clinic operations so that faculty and students may provide patient care to the general public.

Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday with no weekends.
Manages all administrative functions and day-to-day clinical operations for a dental clinic, including supervision of business staff and patient care coordinators. Documents and enforces key procedures related to patient contact, scheduling, inventory and etc.. Drafts an annual budget; oversees the insurance coding, billing and collection activities; is not ultimately responsible for the profit and loss of the clinic.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Manages all clinical and administrative staff, including hiring, orientation, schedule changes and disciplinary actions. Creates training plans that partner new hires with experienced employees. Works collaboratively with peers to utilize staff and resources most effectively.
2. Manages, opens and monitors Axium Schedule included adding residents to the schedule.
3. Monitors all referrals to ensure that staff is acting on the referral in a timely manner.
4. Develops or assists practice leadership in developing clinic’s operating budget. Tracks spending and reconciles budget accounts.
5. Establishes and monitors equipment leases; creates and modifies standing supply orders with approved vendors. May take part in review and selections of new vendors or new products.
6. Prepares recurring administrative reports such as clinical billing and the status of collection activity.
7. Partners with IT, telecommunications and facilities professionals to plan and execute repairs and updates to office equipment. Ensures staff members are trained in new office technology.
8. Periodically analyzes internal processes, equipment and supplies, and implements changes to improve operations
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years’ related experience in a clinical practice or similar operation. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis. Excellent oral and written communication skills. A working knowledge of Excel and Word software, as well as enterprise-wide computer applications.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Ability to motivate and mentor staff. Skill in planning and coordinating workflow and in monitoring and providing guidance to clerical personnel. Ability to independently perform specialized tasks. Ability to solve problems where no clear precedent exists.
