Dental Hygienist

Position Summary
The Dental Hygienist plays a vital role in promoting oral health and preventing disease through patient education, clinical services, and preventative care. Working collaboratively with the dentist, the hygienist provides high-quality care that ensures patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, compassionate, and committed to delivering exceptional patient experiences in compliance with Connecticut state dental regulations.
Key Responsibilities

Perform prophylaxis (cleanings), periodontal scaling and root planning, and fluoride treatments.

Conduct oral health assessments, including charting of dental conditions, periodontal screening, and oral cancer exams.

Take and interpret dental radiographs (X-rays) following Connecticut state guidelines.

Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, proper nutrition, and preventive care practices.

Apply sealants and desensitizing agents as indicated by treatment plans.

Maintain accurate and detailed patient records and documentation.

Ensure strict compliance with infection control, sterilization, and OSHA/CDC safety standards.

Collaborate with the dentist to develop and update individualized treatment plans.

Maintain equipment and treatment areas in clean, working condition.

Stay informed about current trends, technologies, and best practices in dental hygiene.
Qualifications-
Active and unrestricted Connecticut Dental Hygienist License required.

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Radiology and local anesthesia certification (as permitted under Connecticut General Statutes) preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care and confidentiality.

At least 1 year of experience in a dental practice preferred (new graduates encouraged to apply).
Preferred Skills-
Familiarity with digital radiography and electronic dental records systems (e.g., Dentrix, Eagle soft).
