Pay Grid: Salary Range 4 ($54,720.00 to $71,820.00 per year)
Reporting to: Manager of Childcare Services
Summary of Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Child Care Services, the Daycare Supervisor - Infant & Toddler supports the delivery of high-quality early learning programs.
This role will support First Nation Health Authority - Aboriginal Head Start On Reserve curriculum development, ensure licensing compliance, and help maintain a safe, nurturing, and culturally responsive environment for children, families, and staff. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and a commitment to supporting the growth and development of young children.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Support the Manager of Child Care Services in program development and decision-making
- Ensure Centre policies and procedures follow Provincial Child Care Licensing Board regulations and the Community Care Facility Act
- Plan, implement, and assess developmentally appropriate learning activities
- Create a safe, nurturing environment that promotes children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Guide children’s behaviour in ways that support positive self-esteem and healthy relationships
- Develop and post weekly and daily activity plans
- Incorporate culturally appropriate activities as advised by Elders and the Manager of Early Learning
- Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate, activities and experiences in harmony with the Center’s philosophy.
- Foster positive communication and relationships with children, families, and staff
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and volunteers
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
- Ensure compliance with licensing standards and best practices in early childhood education
- Perform other related duties as required
Experience and Attributes:
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate recognized by the Provincial Child Care Licensing Board and Community Care Facility Act
- Infant & Toddler Certificate
- Valid Child Care First Aid Certificate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in childcare settings
- Previous Supervisory experience & demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and problem solving, conflict resolution and crisis intervention is an asset.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the ECEBC Code of Ethics
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Motivated self-starter
- Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with all stakeholders, clients, and Members.
- Understanding of Lil’wat culture and language is an asset
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector, if required by the role.
