Job Type: Part-Time (Guaranteed 20 Hours a week)

Reports To: Our House Supervisor/Manager

Remuneration: $23.08 per hour

Schedule: 4pm to 12am 4 days on 4 days off

Responsibilities: 

Client Support Workers are members of the Our House team and work together to provide support for clients/residents in a flexible, compassionate, and responsible manner.

Qualifications:

  • Post – Secondary education i.e.: Rehabilitation worker, Disability Support Worker, partial university or other relevant training and experience in the human services field and/or lived experience in the area of Mental Health/Addiction recovery;
  • Valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence;
  • Posses reliable transportation;
  • Mental Health First Aid or willingness to attain certification;
  • Good written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team;
  • Demonstrate a pro – active approach, flexibility, tolerance, perseverance and competence;
  • Understanding and use of Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recover values and practices;
  • Understanding and awareness of First Nations culture;
  • Experience in working with people with mental health, substance misuse and/or cognitive disabilities;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Must pass YWCA Security Clearance (includes VSC);

Duties:

  • A primary shared caseload of four to six clients and shared responsibility with a team for all other clients in Our House;
  • Provide culturally sensitive outreach, case management, counseling, and other needed services to clients;
  • Assist residents/clients in skills of daily living;
  • Assist residents/clients in the management of medication;
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities;
  • Organize and conduct groups in areas such as life skills, health teaching, social/leisure/recreational, etc.;
  • Assist with transportation to and from the Food Bank, grocery shopping (one-on-one, group outing), and other shopping;
  • Ensure appropriate records are completed and maintained, such as contact notes, incident reports, etc.;
  • Participate in staff training – First Aid/CPR, PART, MHFA, ASIST, and in-service education;
  • Be willing and able to provide First Aid/CPR;
  • Attend staff meetings and staff planning/team meetings as required;
  • Assist in ensuring the safety and security of the Our House building as may be required ex. Monitor cameras, walkthrough, lock checks, etc.;
  • Prepare meals;
  • Have knowledge of Mental Health First Aid and provide appropriate, professional responses to residents disclosing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, hallucinations, delusions, or other symptoms;
  • Other duties as may be assigned by management;

Probation: All YWCA Prince Albert positions contain a three-month probation period.
