Daddy & Me Group Facilitator
The Daddy and Me program is a drop-in group for dads and other male caregivers that gives them opportunity to interact with their children in an age-appropriate fun, safe and supported environment. Male caregivers learn valuable parenting skills, make valuable connections with other dads, and gain knowledge about local resources in the community.
The Group Facilitator will lead group sessions for the Daddy and Me Program, which supports male care providers in strengthening their relationships with their children and becoming more engaged, confident, and capable parents. Through a series of interactive, age-appropriate, father-centered events, the facilitator supports participants in exploring issues of parenting, child development, health communication, positive emotional expression in a recreational-based environment.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator and group leader who can create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where participants feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow in their roles as fathers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Facilitate weekly drop-in group sessions using a strengths-based, non-judgmental, engaging format.
- Establish a supportive group environment where fathers can share experiences, and ask questions,
- Guide discussions on a range of subjects including parenting, child development, discipline, communication, and emotional expression.
- Incorporate culturally relevant, trauma-informed practices to engage fathers from diverse backgrounds.
- Model healthy communication, active listening, and respectful conflict resolution strategies.
- Administer pre- and post-program assessments or surveys to measure participant progress.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, session notes, and documentation as required.
- Collaborate with the Program Manager to provide referrals or additional support to participants when appropriate.
- Attend regular team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Diploma in a related Human/Social Service field with two (2) years of recent related experience working with children, families and facilitation.
- Food Safe certification is required.
Additional Requirements:
· Clear Criminal Record Check is required.
· Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
· Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’s License with access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
· Acceptable Driver’s Abstract (provided annually).
· Position requires Union Membership.
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 8 hours per week (evenings); temporary from Sept. 2, 2025 through December 31, 2025
Wage/Salary: $27.54 / hour
Grid Level: 11
