Custodian
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the guidance and supervision of the Custodial Director and Custodial Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for ensuring that the Y is clean, safe, sanitary, tidy, functional and attractive by completing all assigned duties during their work shift.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All Custodians are expected to fulfill the following functions:
• Sweeping, mopping and dusting
• Trash removal and recycling
• Cleaning windows, mirrors, sinks, toilets, walls, partitions, floors, etc.
• Replacing lights, paper products, soaps, and other supplies as needed
• Setting up and taking down chairs and tables for events as needed
• Operating vacuums, carpet cleaners, floor scrubbers and other equipment as needed
• Maintaining appropriate finish and appearance on waxed, tiled, wooden and carpeted floors
• Checking temperatures, settings and other indicators and responding appropriately
• Accurately maintaining and submitting time sheets on time as required
• Communicating, cooperating and complying with shift lead, coordinator and Custodial Director
• Pursue/participate in ongoing skills training
• Participate in the annual campaign by assisting, giving, and/or campaigning
• Attend required staff meetings
• Ability to safely and effectively perform necessary tasks
• Ability to work a night/evening and weekend shifts
• At least 18 years of age.
• Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
• CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
• New Employee Orientation within 90 days of hire.
• Experience with cleaning and custodial tasks is preferred.
• Ability to perform essential custodial duties and responsibilities.
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Custodians will:
• Pursue/participate in ongoing skills training
• Participate in the annual campaign by assisting, giving, and/or campaigning
• Attend required staff meetings

QUALIFICATIONS
• At least 18 years of age.
