As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled Crop Science Specialist to join our team at our state-of-the-art greenhouse facility.

As a Crop Science Specialist at Rubicon Organics you will play a vital role in ensuring the success and quality of our cannabis cultivation operations. You will be responsible for applying your expertise in crop science, particularly in cannabis cultivation, to optimize plant health, yield, and overall quality. Additionally, your knowledge of organic science methodologies, including the production of microbial inoculants and other organic practices, will be instrumental in maintaining our commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation practices.

Key Responsibilities:

·       Cultivation Expertise: Utilize your in-depth knowledge of cannabis cultivation to recommend new methodologies across all aspects of plant growth, including propagation, cultivation, IPM and nutrition to ensure optimal yield and quality.

·       Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest developments in crop science, particularly as they relate to cannabis cultivation, and contribute to ongoing research and development efforts to improve cultivation techniques and product quality.

·       Design, document, and communicate the results of large scale production trails including cultivar selection, nutrition and soil management, IPM strategies and products, crop work practices, and environmental factors.

·       Organic Methodologies: Implement and refine organic cultivation practices, including the use of beneficial microorganisms, to enhance plant health and resilience while minimizing environmental impact.

·       Pest and Disease Management: Work with the IPM Specialist to trial and develop effective strategies for pest management.

·       Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to plant growth, environmental conditions, and cultivation practices to identify areas for optimization and improvement.

·       Compliance and Regulation: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards governing cannabis cultivation, including Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), organic certification requirements, and health and safety protocols.

·       Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with other members of the cultivation team, including growers, technicians, and researchers, to achieve production goals and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.


Qualifications:

·       Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Horticulture, Agronomy, or related field.

·       Minimum of 3 years of experience in cannabis or organic cultivation, with a strong understanding of the plant's lifecycle, growth requirements, and cultivation best practices.

·       Proven experience working with organic cultivation methodologies and beneficial microorganisms.

·       Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, interpret, and apply data to optimize cultivation practices.

·       Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

·       Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
