NEW PROGRAM - STABILIZATION AND ASSESSMENT CENTER:  Jonathan’s Place is seeking a Crisis Intervention Specialist for the Stabilization and Assessment Center (SAC) Program. This position will work with direct care staff and residents in the SAC Program and will be responsible for intervening and assisting in crises by providing face-to-face crisis assessment, crisis intervention services, and ongoing support. The Specialist (CIS) will work directly with the children/youth experiencing a crisis by providing support and assistance, plans to manage behavior, and helping them increase overall coping skills. This position also assists by providing ongoing support and guidance on observing, responding, de-escalating, and intervening in crises. 

The Crisis Intervention Specialist is a full-time position of 40 hours per week, with evenings and weekends as needed. Jonathan’s Place offers a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, 401k, and other ancillary benefits.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Engages in a trauma-informed programming model to provide residents with physical and emotional safety.
  • Provide Crisis intervention measures as behaviors arise.
  • Provide TBRI/BIT/EBI/MAB as de-escalation techniques.
  • Implement treatment goals (Crisis Intervention Plan)
  • Create and conduct an initial Crisis Intervention, Safety, and Runaway Prevention Plan with the resident.
  • Provide 1:1 sessions with residents as needed if a concern has been identified.
  • Document goal and program information/ data collection throughout the day.
  • Provide feedback to the supervisor and direct care staff regarding the resident
  • Offer support to direct care staff and program staff for crisis management, including de-escalation, behavior management training, behavior intervention, modeling appropriate crisis strategies, and conducting the resident observation.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to address the individualized needs of youth in the program
  • Meet designated benchmarks and or/ quality measures.
  • On Call rotation
  • Able to work weekend shifts (as needed)
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Attend job-related training and meetings.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of all job-related tasks, activities, and challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work, Human Services, or Psychology
  • QMHP Certification a plus
  • One to three years of experience in Crisis Management or Behavior Intervention
  • Two to three years of experience working with trauma survivors and children/youth.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, developmental disabilities, Autism, and therapeutic support
