Position Summary:

At Thrive Behavioral Health Center, we deliver industry leading peer support for those suffering from Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorders.  The Crisis Counselor will provide clinical support to the statewide Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) call-in line to ensure callers are connected with the appropriate MRSS provider. Education/Certifications: Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling  required.  LPC/LSW, LISW/LPCC, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical support to those directly answering the MRSS call-in line, and assist with any clinical support needed for the caller, provider, or internal staff

  • Provide de-escalation strategies as needed with a safety assessment 

  • Work with families and youth by collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals

  • Utilize telehealth platforms to engage with youth and family callers

  • Advocate for the needs of each family and youth by providing hope and help in changing patterns and behaviors

  • Provide crisis intervention practices to youth and families

  • Ensure dispatch is completed within the required timeframes

  • Provide referral resources as needed to extend service and clinical guidance on the appropriate level of care

  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory guidelines

  • Complete administrative duties in a timely and accurate manner

  • Serve a diverse client base of youth and their families in need of MRSS and/or crisis services

  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

  • Comfort and knowledge working with crisis situations, as well as youth and their families

  • Working knowledge of different pathways to recovery and social systems including evidence based practices

  • Driven to engage callers in services to assist in their recovery

  • Understands problems analysis, decision-analysis, evaluate interventions, and contingency plans

  • Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said

  • Proficient level of ability with computer; teleconferencing software (Zoom, Ring Central); Microsoft Office Products

  • Knowledge of industry related software

  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate information clearly

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in crisis services, social services, or other behavioral health environment

  • Experience working with families and youth

  • Experience with high risk cases and mental health practices

  • Experience with electronic health records or other types of applications and software

  • Experience in providing telehealth services
