Reporting to the Planning Coordinator, the Mining engineer - planning will assist the Technical Services team in their tasks and responsibilities. Based at the Windfall site, located in the Nord-du-Québec region, the Mining Engineer will be required to work a schedule of 15 days on followed by 13 days off. Transportation, accommodation, and meals are provided.

Duties and responsibilities                

•Convey occupational health and safety values to coworkers and contractors;

•Plan and supervise the work of technicians and trainees;

•Actively contribute to feasibility studies on the company's current and future projects;

•Write daily progress reports as well as periodic and monthly reports and associated variances; 

•When required, give presentations to members of management or other stakeholders to track the progress of the work;

•Mentor technical and engineering interns;

•Select and order materials;

•Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety and accident prevention standards and implement corrective measures; 

•Draw engineering plans;

•Perform comparative analyses and present the results in a concise manner;

•Write procedures for the engineering department's processes;

•Perform quality control on the work performed;

•Participate in engineering projects including, among other things, development, field control, ventilation, permanent infrastructure, and drainage;

•Report any situation that could affect the work to your immediate supervisor and submit recommendations for corrective measures;

•Act as a leader in safety, environment, and community relations to help achieve the highest standards;

•Collaborate on weekly and quarterly planning tasks;

•Perform any other tasks related to the Mining engineer - planning position that are relevant to the success of the project.


Qualifications required

•Hold a university degree in mining engineering;

•Be a member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ);

•Have three (3) years of experience in mining operations;

•Have experience in project management;

•Experience working with First Nations (an asset);

•Valid Class 5 driver's license;

•Mining modules (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7) (an asset);

•Valid explosives license.


Technical skills

•Knowledge of various processes according to industry standards;

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Outlook, etc.), as well as specialized software such as AutoCAD and Ventsim;

•Knowledge of Deswik software;

•Good knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to exploration and mining sites.


Basic skills

•Demonstrate rigor in occupational health and safety;

•Have excellent command of French and good knowledge of English;

•Be an excellent communicator;

•Be an excellent team player, demonstrate tact and political savvy;

•Be flexible and open to change and constructive feedback;

•Have good organizational skills and the ability to recognize priorities;

•Be independent, show initiative, and be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;

•Be thorough and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
