Wolfgang Confectioners currently has an opening for a full-time Manufacturing Cost Accountant to support both Loganville and Camp Hill locations.
This role bridges the gap between finance and operations by transforming complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that drive operational efficiency and profitability. This role will work directly with plant managers and operations teams to support decision-making through detailed cost analysis, variance reporting, and performance metrics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for all manufactured products across both facilities
• Perform detailed variance analysis (material, labor, overhead) and partner with plant teams to identify root causes and drive corrective actions
• Lead the monthly cost accounting close process, including inventory valuation, reconciliation, and journal entries
• Serve as the primary finance business partner to plant managers and operations leadership, translating financial data into operational language and actionable recommendations
• Participate in production meetings to provide real-time financial guidance on make vs. buy decisions, product mix optimization, and efficiency initiatives
• Monitor and report on manufacturing costs, margins, and key performance indicators (KPIs) tailored to operational needs
• Conduct profitability analysis by product, production line, and customer to support strategic decision-making
• Develop and maintain operational dashboards and reports that provide clear visibility into cost drivers and performance trends
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement; lead or support continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with operations
• Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes with detailed manufacturing cost inputs and analysis
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies related to inventory and cost accounting; support internal and external audits
• Enhance cost accounting systems and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and value to the business
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
Minimum five (5) years experience in a cost accounting role, preferably in manufacturing and public accounting
Strong understanding and application of accounting principles, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation under GAAP
Experience with ERP systems
Advanced proficiency in computerized accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis, modeling)
Strong analytical skills with proven ability to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities
Clear and concise verbal and written communication
Ability to travel between plant locations (approximately 30 minutes apart)
