We are seeking a dynamic and talented Corporate Sales Manager to join our team and contribute to our continued growth. 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES AND POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for generating profitable revenues through identifying and developing new business opportunities and cultivating leads while upholding brand standards and identity. This position manages sales of Corporate, Incentive Groups, and Business/Corporate Travel for Averill Hospitality’s Whitefish properties.

A key role for every Averill Hospitality Team Member is to serve as an ambassador of the company and its properties, positively engaging owners, guests, and the community at every opportunity.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and follow annual Commercial Action Plan for territory managed, adapting and modifying as needed.
  • Develop and implement target lists and action plans for customer acquisition and client account management.
  • Communicate with other departments to facilitate services agreed upon with clients and act as a resource for information and assistance to other departments within the company
  • Participate in the planning and execution of open house event(s) to showcase properties
  • Meet individually with the DOSC every other week to review sales activities and opportunities and develop and refine sales strategy and action plans
  • Participate in weekly Group Sales Meeting to review current sales pipeline, pace status to goals, current sales strategies, challenges, and opportunities
  • Utilize reports from TS & OPERA to gauge performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Achieve sales goals as established by department and property leadership
    • Prospect, cultivate leads and contract business to achieve revenue goals and in accordance with established SOPs
    • Lead site inspections and entertain qualified potential clients
    • Perform sales calls, client outreach, and telephone sales to potential new and existing clients on a regular basis, travel to key and emerging markets for sales calls to promote Averill Hospitality properties
    • Participate in networking organizations and activities to grow leads
    • Document sales efforts and maintenance of client accounts in TS & OPERA
    • Evaluate business opportunities to determine if favorable and profitable to the company
    • Work with the department and property leadership to ensure group sales efforts are aligned with overall property goals and modify as needed
  • Take the lead role in training sales team members to understand and accurately position AH products and services to prospective clients, utilize departmental software platforms, interpret SOPs, and develop relationships with prospects and clients.
  • Work with the DOSC and Marketing team to develop effective sales tools and marketing campaigns to support sales efforts.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Experience and proven success in developing and closing business
  • Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of how to position products against competitors, and knowledge of how to develop client-focused, differentiated, and achievable solutions
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both in-person and on the telephone, and excellent written communication skills with attention to proper spelling, grammar, and usage
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge with the capacity to learn new programs and technologies
  • Must be alert and quick reasoning, able to interpret and follow instructions and guidelines set by the hotel’s policy and procedures, keep commitments, and complete tasks on time
  • Creative problem solver with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Must possess a high regard for customer service and employee relations and the ability to deal with the public and staff tactfully and diplomatically
  • A broad understanding of the tourism industry and the day-to-day operations of a hotel/resort
  • Understanding of key drivers of tourism to Whitefish
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

  • Preference for a 4-year degree in hospitality, business management, communications, or related field

EXPERIENCE/ LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in resort or hotel sales where there was significant time spent establishing rapport with leads, overcoming sales objections, and closing sales
  • A valid driver’s license

SCHEDULE / HOLIDAYS/ PTO:

A Corporate Sales Manager is expected to keep a 5-day-a-week schedule, adjusted as needed according to business demands, and be available in the event of an emergency. A requirement of 45 hours per week is expected, however, it can be more or less depending on the business needs. Working weekends and holidays may be required.
