Job Summary:
The Cook Supervisor oversees designated dining areas and service of resident meals daily to make sure
menus are followed appropriately with accommodation and attention to special diets. It is mandatory as a Cook
Supervisor to make sure appropriate portion sizes are served, all temperatures are documented,
food preferences are honored and hospitality needs are met. As a Cook Supervisor it is your
duty to ensure prep work needed is completed in a timely manner, and is accurately executed.
The role of Cook Supervisor will require you to educate Dietary Aides as needed and when appropriate on
policy & procedure, sanitation, food storage, and proper handling of food items. When necessary the Cook
Supervisor will participate in orientation and training for Dietary Aides. This role is responsible for promoting
the professional growth and development of all staff.

Common Responsibilities:
Point of contact for employee needs & staffing during scheduled shifts.
Communicate appropriately to management on status of dining areas & staffing.
Ensure that dining areas are appropriately cleaned, stocked, and in working order.
Make sure all food items are labeled, dated, and discarded according to policy.
Perform various quality assurance checks throughout shift to ensure resident meals are being served according to dietary
needs and health regulations.
Educate Dietary Aides when necessary on policy and procedure.
Offer assistance when needed.
Ensure that all areas are cleaned and sanitized, floors swept and mopped, and that all department
doors are locked and secured at closing.
Conduct in-services for the Hospitality Services department, as assigned by the Dietary Director.

Ideal Experiences Include:
2+ years experience in the dietary and supervision roles
Medical/healthcare experience a plus
Must be willing to continue education requirements when needed
Person-centered, elder-directed, quality focused
Strong leadership
Critical thinking
Ability to take initiative
Learning and Teaching centered
Strong communication and team building skills
Conflict facilitator
Must be professional when working with residents and other employees
