THIS POSITION WILL PRIMARILY WORK IN NUTRITIONAL SERVICES AND MAY FLOAT COVERAGE TO ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES/HOUSEKEEPING AND SECURITY DEPARTMENT


Summary: Functions as a Food Services Associate (Cook / Dietary Aide - PRN/Part Time as Needed) in a team and mission-based setting to provide support functions to include: preparation, delivery and safe handling of all meals/food in accordance with state and federal regulations.at Northern Cochise Community Hospital, Inc. Working knowledge of commerical kitchen, nutrition operations, scratch cooking, as well as food handling safety. Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience. Responsible for the cooking, preparation, and delivery of food to all patients, staff, and visitors. Working knowledge to read and understand menus, spreadsheets, recipes, and patient diet cards. Asssit with stocking the kitchen and hospital refrigerators; food delivery and temporary controls as needed. May assist with inventory as requested. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. Training is available and will be provided to the successful candidate.

Special Conditions: Must be willing to work weekend, holidays and Day or Night Shifts [Sunday - Saturday] - available during the hours of 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. for dietary; EVS/Housekeeping available during day up to 11 p.m. and Security department available during Tuesday-Sunday coverage [as needed].

Position is Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace / Vaccination Requirements.

Position is subject to call back during emergency conditions and/or occasional on call for team coverage.

This position is an essential worker which requires a commitment to teamwork, collaboration and department scheduling needs i.e. good attendance, attitude, customer services, communication skills, etc.,

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Nutritional Services Manager or designated administrator. Exercises progressive levels of autonomy in day-to-day activities based on satisfactory job performance.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Six months food services experience, highly desirable.

Must have good attendance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  This position requires Safe Food Handler Certification within 7 days of hire and Advanced Food Handler Certification within 3 months of hire.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of food preparation, temporary controls in accordance with sanitation regulations.

Read and understand menus, spreadsheets, recipes, and patient diet cards.

Must be willing and able to follow oral and written instructions as well as communicate clearly and respond to management direction.

Take responsibility for own actions and keep commitments.

Working knowledge of food services and sanitation requirements as well as safe use of chemicals; HIPAA privacy requirements.

Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule Monday - Sunday including special events and holidays or as scheduled.

Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior.
