Controls Technician
Benchmark Automation and Controls is looking for a Controls Technician in the DC and Northern Virginia area to service and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems in a commercial environment!
A Day in the Life:
- Providing responsive and professional customer service with the goal of building and maintaining long-term customer relationships
- Responding to service calls (emergency and on-site) as assigned; performing repairs as directed on all automation system types and completing service ticket documentation per the policy
- Identifying and reporting system discrepancies, suggesting system upgrade opportunities, and at times assisting in the pricing of repairs and upgrades to an existing agreement
- Following and maintaining preventive maintenance schedules; maintaining complete and accurate documentation of services performed and generating reports within MobileTech
- Executing digitalization and standard service operations strategies
- Providing instructions to customer personnel regarding proper system operations and assisting with training
- Performing system checkout and startup on projects, participating in job site final walk and/or final completion for systems-to-service turnover on assigned jobs
- Working rotational On-Call and/or overtime when needed
- Ability to work remotely, manage time effectively, meet established deadlines, and work in a team environment, providing dedicated support to our customers
What You'll Bring to the Table:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- A minimum of 3 years of HVAC experience (required)
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (required)
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high lift equipment, working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in various conditions (required)
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet as well as carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted (required)
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and diagnostics of automation systems (preferred)
- Demonstrated on-the-job experience with open protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and TCP/IP Ethernet and networking, as well as engineering concepts, programming, job start-up and checkout, and troubleshooting (preferred)
- OSHA 10 Certification (preferred)

Base Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
- Commensurate with experience. This range represents a general guideline; however, a number of factors are considered when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.
