FDSP Associates is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing
for clinic operations so that faculty and student may provide patient care to
the general public.

UM FDSP Associates P.A. employs approximately 175 team members, inclusive of dental assistants, hygienists, central material sterilization and administrative personnel.
The Executive Director – Clinical Administration is a critical role for the corporation and is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial and human resources management for clinical operations. The operations include the following: Accounting, Billing/Payment posting (revenue cycle management), Cash Handling, Faculty Practice Support, Student Clinics support, etc.
to enhance best-in-class patient experience and service.
Maintain financial management systems and internal controls required to ensure that the clinical department commitment, operating, and cash management accounts are safeguarded and that accounts are appropriately maintained to ensure accurate financial data.
Review, analyze, and interpret all financial and budgetary reports to ensure timely and effective decision making.
Prepare operating and project budget drafts, monitor departmental budgets, and report any significant deviations from approved budgets.
Oversee Board meeting preparation and creation of Board meeting materials. In addition, presenting financial results monthly, inclusive of any operational updates.
Provide general direction and leadership for all aspects of the financial functions within the clinics to maintain their efficient operation.
Direct the income of the department and divisions and its programs, including coordinating payments from different budget sources, as well as managing the purchasing of supplies and other expenses.
Collaboratively works with business managers and Office of Information Technology staff to analyze and verify reporting data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Direct the budgeting and financial reporting including tracking of all financial transactions, reporting transactions to external agencies for the corporation, and providing detailed financial plans to the department heads.
Manage 14 direct and indirect staff in the efficient and confidential processing of all financial transactions.
Direct payroll and fringe benefits systems which may include the coordination and processing of multi employment entities (UMB, UMMS, private practice, and VA). Identify and contract health and dental care plans for the employees of the corporation.
Ensure efficient recruitment/interviewing and training functions to continually review strengths and weaknesses in maintaining a staff of well-trained, highly involved, and motivated employees.
Matrix support to the School of Dentistry Dean, Chief of Staff, Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, and other senior management personnel.

UM FDSP Associates P.A. is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing for the clinic operations so that faculty and students may provide patient care to the general public. UM FDSP Associates P.A. assists the school in remaining competitive with other dental schools in order to continue the high degree of excellence in the pursuit of academic and clinical education.
In addition, UM FDSP Associates P.A. administers and operates the student clinics of the school and provides for a responsive and cost effective administrative organization and information system as a means of ensuring high quality management and accountability in the accomplishment of previously described purposes.

The human resources area is led by a Director which is a direct report to this role. The Executive Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the clinics by working with the senior management team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. This role will drive and execute strategy, alignment, and planning for key operational initiatives
to enhance best-in-class patient experience and service.
This role will coordinate with other resources including the Dean, Chief of Staff, Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs, the Director of Clinical Operations, the clinic administration team, the finance team, and the UM FDSP Board. Lastly, this role is very hands on with the accounting of UM FDSP Associates P.A.
Responsibilities Oversee financial accounting and GAAP/GASB reporting to include managing the corporation’s internal/external financial reporting process. Monitor and oversee all clinical department asset and liability accounts; ensure proper accounting methodology, techniques, and policies are adopted in departmental operations. (To include all locations-currently, Baltimore and Universities at Shady Grove-USG)

· Develop, direct, and implement critical clinical financial path activities and projects to ensure efficient and effective processes and practices.
· Define and deliver key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to track operational performance.
· Partner with management on a regular basis in setting strategic goals and objectives and budgets, and/or in fostering improvements in policies/procedures for the entire corporation.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Education: Bachelor’s in accounting, finance, business administration and/or related field. Masters in related field preferred. Experience: 10+ years spent progressively building a background in the financial and business operations of a clinical department or clinical practice. Supervisory Experience: 10+ years of direct management experience involved in recruitment, training, and professional development of staff. Certification/Licensure: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Financial Manager (CFM), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) strongly preferred
Other: Annual financial disclosure required by Maryland State law. Proficient in effective use of applicable technology/systems, i.e. Excel, MIP, Microix, Word, etc. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to support a mission and strategic vision. Possess instructional, training, and team-building skills to strengthen and cultivate relationships. Skilled in consultation and change management.
