Summary of Position: The Controller is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, forecasting, and compliance, ensuring accuracy across ecommerce, wholesale, and manufacturing operations.

Manage cost accounting for international manufacturing, including COGS calculations, margin analysis, and expense allocation.

Ensure inventory accounting accuracy, including valuation, adjustments, and real-time tracking of stock levels.

Lead sales tax and use tax compliance, including multi-state tax filings and exemption certificate management through Avalara and other tax automation tools.

Implement and maintain financial controls, optimizing revenue recognition, cash flow, and expense management processes.

Work closely with the CEO, CFO, COO and executive team to provide financial insights and drive strategic initiatives.

Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards, preparing financial reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.

Develop and manage a high-performing accounting team, fostering efficiency and continuous improvement in financial operations.

Provide technical expertise in financial systems, working within Salesforce-based ERP solutions and integrating financial data with operational workflows.


Qualifications:

7+ years of accounting experience, with a strong background in ecommerce, retail, or manufacturing accounting.

Expertise in inventory and cost accounting, including multi-channel revenue streams.

Extensive knowledge of sales tax and use tax compliance, including experience with Avalara or similar tax automation software.

CPA or CMA preferred, or equivalent experience in a similar role.

Strong ERP and financial systems experience, preferably with Salesforce, NetSuite, or similar platforms.

Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large datasets for reporting and analysis.

Experience managing multi-location and international financial operations.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop accounting staff.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with shifting priorities.

Located in or willing to relocate to Dallas, TX (Relocation assistance available for the right candidate).
