Controller
Northumberland Ferries Limited and Bay Ferries Limited, a regional leader in the transportation industry, is seeking a Controller.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Controller is responsible for ensuring the organization meets financial deadlines, adheres to financial regulations, and maintains utmost accuracy in record keeping. This role reports to the Executive Director of Finance and works collaboratively on reporting, analytics, budgeting, projects, and team oversight.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the preparation of all monthly financial statements
- Support the activities of the Executive Director, Finance and the accounting team
- Assist with planning and forecasting the annual budget
- Provide financial analysis support, practices and procedures as they relate to finance
- Primary treasury function for all companies
- Monitor the financial policies, practices, and procedures of the operation
- Ensure the necessary internal controls are in place to safeguard the company’s assets and adhere to financial management policies
- Project work, as required
- Other related responsibilities, as required
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- CPA designation required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong leadership skills
- High attention to detail
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Desire to learn and continuously improve
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and motivated to learn in-house software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

WORKING CONDITIONS
The workplace is the head office in Charlottetown, PEI. The hours for this position are generally from 8am to 4pm; however, as an essential industry that operates seven days per week, evening and weekend work will sometimes be required. Some travel to vessels, terminals, and other company locations will also be required.
