POSITION SUMMARY

ND Landscape Services has been providing Full-Service Landscaping for clients in the North Shore and Metro North area since 1980. We are seeking an initiative-taking and organized Controller with strong operational accounting and leadership skills to direct and manage the Company’s office staff, business, and accounting functions.

The Controller is in a senior management position, reporting directly to the CEO of the Company. This role provides strategic leadership, a consistent financial perspective and makes critical management decisions for office staff, business, and accounting functions.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that we have in place consistent office processes, systems, and procedures to serve as a resource to the operating divisions.
  • Maintain an effective team in the office through coaching, staff development, and driving accountability so that the organization executes tasks timely, supports the departments and contributes to business results being achieved.
  • Ensure that we have Human Resource processes, systems and procedures being implemented consistently across the organization (Compliance, Performance Management, Recruiting)
  • Ensure we have consistent and documented accounting and office practices to produce timely and accurate accounts payables, payroll, compliance related items and monthly financial reporting.
  • Through partnership with the CEO and Managers, ensure that we have an integrated implementation of reporting that supports the budgeted Cascading Goals.   Ensure Operational Managers can obtain the necessary operational reports and cascade goals to key roles across the organization.
  • Responsible for the successful implementation and management of the company’s indirect expenses
  • Manage over specific expense lines such as: Auto, Health, and Workers Comp/Employer’s liability Insurances.
  • Serve as a partner and resource to the Owner and the Division Managers in financial planning and analysis to contribute to financial performance.
  • Recommend opportunities to improve business growth, efficiency and profitability and play a key role in the execution of these improvements.

EXPERIENCE

  • Must be an analytical person, who works to overcome the obstacles that may prevent the company from reaching its goals.
  • Must have responsible operational and finance experience.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to direct employees and lead the department.
  • Previous experience as a business executive with 3-6 direct reports preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, Administration, or related field. MBA degree is desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting (GAAP), financial controls, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, operating plans, budgets, and projections.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

 

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • $125,000 - $130,000, annually
