JOB SUMMARY

The Contract Operations Manager serves as the day to day manager for the Contract Operations business unit: delivering day-to-day oversight that ensures the business unit goals are met. This person is responsible for overseeing all contract operations personnel to ensure the safe and compliant execution of their daily responsibilities and that those duties align with strategic, continuous improvement initiatives. This person will work closely with customer representatives to maintain the health of existing operational contracts and for the purposes of the successful implementation of new operational sites.

The primary focus of this position is to improve and maintain the quality and compliance of PCI’s operational accounts, ensuring that the strategies and programming align with the corporate vision while managing customer and employee expectations accordingly. This position works closely with the National Sales Director, President, Vice President, Technology Director, and COO to ensure the Contract Operations business unit can meet the needs of its customers.

This person manages the District Operations Supervisors and Application Engineers directly, providing them with the support, direction, and structure required to accomplish the goals and solve tactical problems. This person will be engaged and remain accountable for the performance, safety, and compliance of each contracted Operations and technical service site. This person will travel regularly to accomplish these tasks. Travel is estimated to be between 30% - 50% of the year, where the extent, duration, and frequency of travel is up to this person’s discretion.

The Operations Manager will employ project and people management tactics to ensure worker and site safety, environmental compliance, quality, cost efficiency, and business continuity. This person will be responsible for maintaining the appropriate balance between corporate responsibility and customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Designs and maintains a sustainable support and reporting structure for the business unit that can scale with company growth (profit and accounts).
  • Designs and maintains a sustainable and transparent accountability structure for the business unit to ensure that proper safety and environmental standards are maintained.
  • Travels to all contract operations accounts regularly.
  • Engages with current customers for business reviews, where possible or needed, to communicate the value of ProChem operational services and the ROI delivered from execution of our services
  • Guides supervisors in staffing events and decisioning such as staffing strategy, growth plans, pay changes, performance improvement plans, disciplinary action, hiring, and separation.
  • Analyzes and assesses profitability of the business unit, defined regions, and individual sites to support company growth and other initiatives; provides insight to the account management (Sales) team accordingly.
  • Establishes operational quality standards and KPIs for tracking site-specific as well as overall business unit performance.
  • Audits each site for operational quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Works closely with District Operations Supervisors to ensure operational proficiency.
  • Oversees overall personnel performance through training and audit programs.
  • Communicates with Operations personnel and cross-departmental staff to disseminate information consistently throughout the company.
  • Engages in sales activities, as needed, to grow the contract operations funnel and meet sales goals as appropriate; nurtures sales leads to secure new operational contracts as needed/appropriate.
  • Participates in the development and adoption of company policies, norms, and culture.
  • Acts in accordance with company culture and values; leads by example.
  • Fosters a collaborative environment within the Operations department and across departments.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by participating in activities such as attending educational workshops, obtaining certification(s), participating in company organized events, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Performing special projects as assigned by the direct supervisor.

TRAINIING, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering such as civil, environmental, industrial (Preferred.  Multiple years if industry relevant experience can take the place of a degree)
  • Experience with project management (preferred)
  • 3 + years in a management position, preferably in a field services industry (required)
  • Experience in technical services field or related customer facing role requiring technical aptitude (required)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Regular travel, including overnight, is a requirement of this position. Travel may be at or around 30% - 50% of the time. Most travel will be within the VA, NC, and SC areas.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Visits to worksites will require the use of personal protective equipment, and there will be exposure to loud noise levels
  • This position requires work in a variety of conditions, including both indoors and outdoor activities during a variety of weather conditions.  The individual will be exposed to noise from machinery and a variety of odors.
  • This position requires sitting or standing for extended periods in front of a computer or projection screens and the extended use of their voice.
  • This position requires the individual to work with hazardous chemicals and compounds and includes sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. It may require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • The position requires moderate activity with bending, stooping, lifting, and ladder work.  Individuals in this position will be working around electricity, water, plumbing equipment, and a variety of chemicals used within the wastewater treatment systems.
  • Daily computer use is required, and sitting, standing, and walking are parts of the daily demands. Occasional lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 20 pounds is necessary.
  • This position may require flexibility in work hours, vacation, and other schedule in order to successfully support both Executive and subordinate needs.
  • Telephone and other electronic communication are an essential part of the job expectations.
