Construction Superintendent
Position Description:
WCI’S Superintendent provides the knowledge, skills and experience required to manage the day-to-day field operations of government and/or commercial construction projects. Superintendents are responsible for the production aspects of the work and are accountable for: producing quality work that is constructed consistent with the standard’s set forth in the project’s contract documents; facilitating problem solving; performing the work in a timely and cost-effective manner and maintaining a work environment that is safe and continuously kept clean and orderly.
Essential Functions of Superintendent Position
Good working knowledge of civil, architectural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Good working knowledge of construction means and methods associated with the renovation and construction of government and commercial buildings and site work. The ability to effectively communicate with management, vendors, customers, and architects/engineers. Ability to travel to different jobsites within a designated geographical area and ability to handle multiple jobs at one time.
Superintendent Responsibilities
· Manage the day-to-day field activities and work sequence to ensure that the project milestone dates, and overall schedule completion date are met.
· Plan, organize, evaluate, and supervise the work of vendors and laborers.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
· Manage and distribute the project lookahead schedule.
· Verify that all work is installed in a workman like manner (i.e.: plumb, level, straight, etc...).
· Verify all layouts, openings, field measurements etc. against plans & submittals.
· Review and coordinate all submittal/shop drawings for constructability and against field conditions.
· Identify, obtain, and manage all inspections to ensure the project obtains a timely CC or CO
· Identify and issue potential RFIs.
· Manage self-performed activities to ensure that work is being performed per plans & specifications.
· Manage changes in project scope to ensure that the most contemporary contract documents are always being used.
· Manage the punch list and project closeout process to assure timely completion.
· Participate in OAC meetings.
· Generate & maintain daily field reports.
· Manage and maintain project safety and cleanliness.
Minimum Qualifications
· 3-5 years of related General Contracting experience running multiple projects in the Government/Commercial sector.
· Ability to interpret and build according to drawings, specifications, and other documents.
· Current safety credentials include OSHA 30, 1st Aid and CPR. If not available must obtain withing 30 days of employment.
· Proficient with MS Office and current project management software.
· Bilingual preferred, English/Spanish.
