A2SKI Industrial is searching for a dedicated and experienced Construction Safety Coordinator to join our team and oversee a project in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. This is a unique role that offers flexibility while allowing you to apply your safety expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment. As the Safety Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being of everyone on site. You will be the go-to person for all safety-related matters, using your knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Regulations to create a culture of safety and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with industry professionals, make a visible impact, and contribute to the success of a major construction initiative.

Responsibilities:

·        Collect and verify subcontractor information prior to mobilization: contacts, scope of work, certifications, equipment inspection records

·        Verify all site personnel have reviewed the site toolbox meeting minutes and signed acknowledgement upon sign-in: personnel are up to date on current site hazards and instructions

·        Verify site attendance log daily: all workers, visitors and deliveries sign in and out

·        Create and deliver a standardized “verbatim” site orientation script: same critical information is given to every worker and keeps the briefing focused

·        Verify all site personnel have valid and current safety certifications: fall protection, WHMIS, aerial lift, confined space, etc.

·        Check PPE compliance throughout each shift: CSA approved gear, fit-for-purpose, and properly worn

·        Confirm required permits are in place before high-risk work starts: hot work, confined space, energized systems, ground disturbance

·        Review Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) or safe work procedures: they match the actual scope and are updated if work changes

·        Audit all site safety documentation and procedural compliance: all required forms, inspections, permits and records are completed, accurate and filed; verify that procedures are being followed

·        Inspect equipment for valid annual certification: cranes, lifts, hoists, etc.

·        Verify daily/shift pre-use inspections are being completed by operators: random spot checks and documentation review

·        Monitor high-risk activities to ensure controls are in place: work at heights, rigging, trenching, live utilities, etc.

o   Inspect site housekeeping and material storage: no blocked access, no trip hazards, safe storage of tools and materials

o   Ensure all personnel follow site access and traffic control protocols: vehicle movements, equipment paths, delivery procedures

o   Document all inspections, observations and corrective actions, and follow up until resolved: track deficiencies and verify corrections before work continues

 

Qualifications:

·        National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification is preferred

·        National Health and Safety Administrator (NHSA) certification or equivalent safety qualifications is required

·        Valid Driver’s Licence and clean driver abstract

·        Ability to perform physically demanding tasks which may include lifting, bending and standing for extended periods

·        Good communication and organizational skills

·        Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment. 

·        Demonstrate reliability and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace

·        Drug and Alcohol Testing
