POSITION PURPOSE:

The Construction Operations Manager plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated construction projects to ensure site safety, project quality, and expected profitability is achieved within the targeted time frame.  This position reports to the Region Installation Leader and District General Manager.  Direct reports include Field Technicians, Construction Project Managers, and Laborers.  Ensures all D&H’s standards are adhered to and executed consistent with company direction.  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

·   Enforces a Zero Tolerance safety process and protocol on all work sites

·   Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders of assigned projects

·   Utilizes a variety of tools to ensure the scope of projects are met

·   Creates and develops SOPs to ensure consistent training and implementation of processes and procedures for the Construction department

·   Identifies risks/opportunities through interpretation of contracts, onsite conditions, and feedback from field

·   Manages job costs in a proactive manner and provides accurate financial forecasting.

·   Maintains and updates project schedules throughout the lifecycle of the assigned projects.

·   Partners with Construction Managers to discuss project’s progress, issues, and action/recovery plans.

·   Aligns with Sales team to ensure accurate costing of new project bids and ensures book orders contain the expenses and labor hours necessary to meet expected profit margins.

·   Procures jobsite materials in a timely manner (subcontractor and vendors).

·   Generates monthly closeout reports and projects profits and losses

·   Navigates all internal processes and systems to create the highest level of efficiency on all projects.

·   Effectively communicate with and influence direct report employees in a positive way.  Responsible for team building, coaching, mentoring, and development of all direct reports.

·   Performs all other duties as assigned.

Basic Knowledge & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Proficient in project management software and tools
  • Utilize a strategic mindset, capable of identifying areas for improvement and developing/implementing a plan to correct
  • Ability to influence in both formal and informal settings via collaboration and use of facts / data
  • Excellent Customer Service and multi-tasking skills
  • Possesses a comprehensive understanding of customer-facing portals for order-to-bill processes
  • Capability to work well under pressure
  • Outstanding communication skills in both verbal and written formats
  • Capacity to remain calm and effectively deal with high-stress situations.
  • Ability to work through projects and drive out efficiencies
  • Willingness to work with multiple users at all levels of the organization without sacrificing quality
  • Strong attention to details and high level of accuracy while maintaining short deadlines with data
  • Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
  • Analyzing information and evaluating results to create solutions and solve problems
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Communicates effectively and persuasively with building owners/managers, general contractors, developers, and all levels of employees
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks, effectively manage projects, and overcome obstacles
  • Tracks record of building and maintaining professional relationships with other team members and customers
  • Proven ability to understand and assess business needs, develop and implement action plans, effectively manage multiple projects, and lead personnel to deliver desired results

 

Previous Experience/Education:

  • At least two years construction relevant project management experience in the construction industry or related trades.
  • At least two years of people leadership experience including performance management and development planning.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

·         Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently

·         Frequent use of hands to manipulate the keyboard, telephone, files and other equipment

·         Ability to traverse jobsite terrain and conditions
