Position Summary
Are you ready to lead and inspire a team in the energetic world of construction here at TNDC? As our Construction Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all project operation, including the supervision of self-performed and subcontracted construction activities, ensuring alignment with project plans and objectives. Making sure everything runs smoothly and efficiently. In this role, you will be the driving force behind ensuring that field supervision and specialists are effectively assigned. You will create a safe and productive work environment. Your leadership and mentorship will empower field personnel, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence. As the primary on-site representative for assigned projects, the Construction Manager serves as a key point of contact for clients, filed operations, and internal stakeholders. Your strong communication skills, a solid understanding of Project Management principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams are critical to the success in this role. The Construction Manager acts a bridge between field operations, Project Services, and the corporate office, setting high standards and providing support across all departments, both on-site and in the office.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
A. Authorities
- Requisition personnel for assigned projects within company guidelines and standards.
- Requisition services, material, supplies, tools and equipment for assigned projects within company guidelines, standards, and/or prepared budgets.
- Recommend promotion, demotion or transfer of a reporting employee.
- Recommend pay adjustments for reporting employees.
- Recommend suspension or dismissal of a reporting employee or subcontractor.
- Discipline a reporting employee with input from Human Resources.
- Recommend and advise the site management team and client of additions and deletions to scope of work for assigned projects.
B. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
- Manage the commercial and contractual items of assigned projects in alignments with TNDC standards.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Oversee and actively be involved in the coordination of resources, materials, and equipment to optimize project efficiency.
- Ensure all site activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to maintain a safe work environment.
- Investigate and resolve safety incidents, implementing preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Act as the primary on-site contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions effectively to stakeholders, including clients, corporate teams, and subcontractors.
- Negotiate and resolve disputes with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Manage project budgets, track costs, and ensure financial accountability.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices, change orders, and other financial documentation.
- Identify cost and time saving opportunities without compromising safety or quality.
- Ensure all work meets or exceeds project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Implement quality control processes and conduct regular inspections to maintain high standards of workmanship.
- Address and resolve technical, logistical, and operational challenges in a timely and effective manner.
- Make critical decisions under pressure to keep projects on track and mitigate risks.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports, including safety, financial, and operational metrics.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, change orders, and as-built drawings.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project delivery.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and methodologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Step into the role of General Foreperson or Sr. Supervisor as needed to ensure continuity and address critical project needs.
- Provide hands-on support during peak workloads or complex phases of the project.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise field personnel, including General Forepersons, Sr. Supervisors, Forepersons, and subcontractors.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance across all teams
- Provide guidance and support to field supervision, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and productivity goals.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field or similar field-based expertise.
- Minimum of five (5) years direct experience in heavy civil / mining construction management.
- Experience with Projects in the following sectors:
- Heavy Civil Construction
- Mining
- Oil/Gas/Chemical Refining is a benefit.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Willingness to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and fitness for work assessment where required for site access.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and abstract, which must be maintained.
- First Aid Certification would be considered an asset.
- Ability to manage stress and perform effectively under pressure.
