Construction Helper
Job Summary
The primary duties of the construction helper are to assist in the installation of underground and aboveground storage tanks, piping, electrical, excavating, busting and removal of concrete, re-pouring of concrete, installing dispensers, and other petroleum related work while providing complete customer satisfaction in a polite and professional manner, and maintaining excellent safety standards.
Job Responsibilities
Using heavy equipment to dig ditches, manually install equipment
Work with concrete, framing, pouring, mixing, finishing
Must be willing to travel and work out of town (including overnight stays)
Ensure all safe work practices are followed at all times
Ensure safe housekeeping practices are followed at all times, including job cleanup at the end of each day
Installation and repair of petroleum equipment including USTs, ASTs, gas pumps, fuel monitoring systems, submersible pumps, and product piping
Conduct work on construction projects, concrete removal and replacement, manhole and spill containment replacements’
Assure compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures according to applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations and company guidelines
Maintain tools and equipment to ensure all are in proper and safe working order
Other tasks as requested by management
Requirements Skills & Abilities
Read and understand drawings
Operate equipment such as backhoes and bobcats, following all equipment and company safety protocol, procedures/policies
Good work ethic
Exhibit a professional demeanor, and develop customer relations and superior service
Work independently and as a member of a team
Work under time constraints efficiently and have the ability to work well with others
Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, and supervisors)
Follow all company procedures
Pass a drug test
Must be able to pass a background check and work eligibility requirements.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Experience in construction work helpful
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
Troubleshooting skills/logical problem-solving skills
Basic computer skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 75 –100 lbs when necessary, during the course of performing their necessary duties
Ability to work in a high traffic area
