SUMMARY

This position will be required to perform various manual and clerical duties in the Flagpole Production Department which include but not limited to the following: Building/Fabricating all the various types of flagpoles and Aluminum shafts according to customer demand. Building parts/product from components that need to be assembled such as Brackets, Eagles and specialty products. Ability to use computer systems to maintain and track PWOs. Ability to comprehend mechanical drawings such as CAD or engineering drawings. This Position will require the applicant to weld products in accordance with the wage/learning progression outlined by the supervisor. Employees must follow and master each of the steps outlined in the progression form. This position will also be required to put items away, move pallets and organize stock.     

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Must have the ability to communicate with peers, Supervisor/Managers.

·         Read and Interpret blueprints and working shop drawings.

·         Visually inspect welds to determine compliance with standards.

·         Must be proficient with and have a good understanding of product composition.

·         Must be able to interpret bills of materials and job orders, proficient with part numbers and part descriptions to aid problem solving and inventory control.

·         Must have the ability to operate in a safe manner using material handling equipment such as a forklift or pallet jack.

·         Use raw materials from various sources including vendors, intercompany transfers, and warehouses to build/fabricate finished goods. 

·         Check count of on hand/workstation materials against appropriate records.  Make entries on the operating system as required. Forward necessary paperwork to departments or individuals concerned such as shop supervisor.  Move materials to different areas with the aid of forklift or pallet jack. 

·         Participate in inventory and cycle count processes.

·         Prepare product for shipment. Assist in maintaining records on all items taken from stock and used in the production process.  Move finished goods to the shipping area, check count against shipping documents.  Move component parts and materials to various production work centers.

·         Keep supervisor informed of any discrepancies on workstation materials or shipments as instructed.

·         Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor outside the production department and adhere to company safety and housekeeping policy and work rules.

·         Ability to navigate computer systems for timekeeping purposes.

·         Ability to navigate CSI computer system to track jobs and clock job work.

·         Ability to completely build all poles and products outlined in progression form including but not limited to: Internal Halyard Flagpoles, External Flagpoles, Welding hand holes, operating the buggo machine,

·         Ability to assess the necessary inventory to be procured based upon cycle counts.

·         Ability to complete tasks within the times given with minimal supervision.

·         Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or recognized equivalent.  Excellent driving record.

Ability to communicate with peers, vendors, customers, purchasing and production control. Proficient with and have a good understanding of data entry and inventory control systems and procedures with the ability to interpret bills of materials, part numbers and part descriptions to aid problem solving and inventory control. Must have the ability to operate in a safe manner the material handling equipment such as a forklift, crane, yard tractor, etc. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The employee in this position must possess the ability to communicate effectively one-on-one or in group situations with customers, suppliers, contractors, executive staff members and co-workers; utilizing methods to include, but not limited to verbal/written presentations or conversations plus telephone and email communications.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and perform trigonometric and geometric calculations.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Must be able to work in a team environment and participate, contribute and support all team activities.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand for the entire shift. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus. Proper lifting techniques required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, dirt, oil, grease, metal shavings, and fumes or airborne particles.  The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat.  In general, the noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud with exposures ranging from 80db to more than 100db, at certain times. 

Specified safety equipment should be always used while operating equipment and, as mandated, while performing tasks within this position. Mandatory safety protection (PPE) and caution will be required while in the plant.
