Job Overview
The Compounding Lab Technician I performs nonsterile pharmacy compounding and related tasks under the supervision of a pharmacist at Sweetgrass Pharmacy and Compounding. This position works Monday through Friday and has the ability to be flexible with hours. This position may also have the ability to rotate into the sterile lab.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Compounding of capsules, oral liquids, topical medications, nasal preparations, suppositories, troches, tablet triturates or lollipops. Hormones and other potentially hazardous chemicals are used in nonsterile compounding.
- Compound medication, fill and label prescriptions and prepackage bulk medications.
- Monitor inventory levels for re-order of low inventory or expiring chemicals, receive new inventory, maintain SDS and Certificates of Analysis and perform daily, weekly and monthly cleaning using appropriate disinfectants and techniques.
- Environmental monitoring and verification testing must be performed according to policies and procedures.
- Other Duties As Assigned.
Education and Experience
- Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience: compounding laboratory experience a plus, but not required.
- Pharmacy Technician Registration/Certification a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Attention to Detail is a must.
- Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to lift 40 lbs
- Standards for quality, cleanliness and safety must be consistently met.
- Must be collaborative and able to perform as part of a team
- Knowledge of and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ability to take direction from the Pharmacist.
- Must have a deep understanding of applicable regulations and adhere to them at all times.
- Knowledge of applicable pharmacy software(s).
- Ability to read, write, and perform simple math.
