Under limited supervision, keeps the legal and ethical integrity of the School of Dentistry intact through policy enforcement and program planning.   Ensures that all clinic personnel are complying with the Federal and State guidelines and regulations as well as professional standards and acceptable business practices pertaining to the Dentistry Industry.  Ensure organization is conducting business in full compliance with the law.  Reports to the Executive Director of IT and Facilities. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.      Provides management, planning and direction in order to maintain legal and regulatory compliance program.
2.      Produces and edits the policies and procedures required to maintain compliance with Federal and State regulations.
3.      Develops and maintains databases to collect and analyze data as well as to monitor and evaluate program operating policies and procedures.
4.      Responsible for performing, coordinating and documenting Risk Analysis of the school to ensure HIPAA compliance.
5.      Performs backup EPR correction activities.
6.      Provides support to clinical management in resolving patient record issues.
7.      Develops and provides reports to support the QA committee.
8.      Manages the auditing of EPR records to improve the quality of patient records.
9.      Develops training and trains users on eRX, Backline and other Axium modules.
10.  Manages Axium user accounts and ensures training requirements are satisfied.
11.  Responsible for responding to and documenting audits and inquiries.
12.  Responsible for performing random audits within the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws.
13.  Responsible for responding to and documenting audits and inquires. Ensure compliance with USM audit requirements.
14.  Responsible for the management of Continuity of Operations Plan-COOP.
15.  Performs and interprets yearly evaluations of the SOD compliance status.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred and three years of experience in a dental clinic or business operations setting.  At least one year experience supervising, training or managing a process.  Additional related experience may be substituted for some or all of the education requirement. Excellent oral and written communications skills.  A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience with or responsibility for a compliance program a plus.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: Ability to independently perform specialized tasks following stated procedures.  Skill in applying basic analytical skills to problems where clear precedent may not exist.  Skill in organizing and executing multiple assignments under specific time constraints.  Skill in planning and coordinating workflow and in monitoring and providing guidance to business teams.  Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.  Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
