Alabama Regional Medical Services (ARMS) is seeking a motivated and community-driven Community Outreach Worker for a 6–8 weeks temporary assignment as a 1099 independent contractor. This is a unique chance to make a meaningful impact by connecting individuals and families to vital healthcare resources and insurance enrollment assistance.
About the Role:
In this short-term outreach position, you’ll engage directly with underserved populations across central Alabama, especially those without insurance, including Spanish-speaking communities. You’ll coordinate events, build community partnerships, and provide education on healthcare access and enrollment options.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver fair, accurate, and impartial information about healthcare and insurance options.
- Plan and participate in outreach events, including some evenings and weekends.
- Distribute educational materials and build relationships with local healthcare and human service organizations.
- Engage with the Hispanic community and connect them to ARMS services.
- Work collaboratively with ARMS personnel to support outreach goals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and complete all required reporting and documentation.
- Assist uninsured patients in ARMS’ service areas (Jefferson, St. Clair, Blount, and Shelby counties).
- Create and present outreach materials tailored to community needs and literacy levels.

- Experience working with diverse populations; bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
