Community Manager for SPACES.ca

Sault Ste. Marie, ON Full-time

Welcome to SPACES by Village Media!

Coming soon, SPACES is your community’s very own social network - and the most significant and impactful endeavour Village Media has ever undertaken.

A haven for local discussions, “spaces” are a collection of online discussions curated by those who know them best: local experts and professional journalists who are committed to strengthening the bonds between neighbours, reigniting local passions, and rebuilding the trust that has been eroded by impersonal and divisive platforms.

We’re searching for a vibrant Community Manager to help manage and grow this amazing new online community. You'll play a key role in building SPACES by managing a subset of followers in our online Spaces groups while maintaining adherence to our brand. This role also involves engaging community members through our digital platforms, recruiting talented hosts, onboarding them to our platform, leading discussions, moderating behaviour and providing ongoing support.  This includes training them on content creation best practices and collaborating on topic selection to ensure our audience stays engaged. This Is You:

CONTENT POWERHOUSE

Expertise - You have a journalism, communications or social media management background, coupled with at least 2-3 years of experience.

Digital Media Savvy - You understand the nuances of different digital platforms and audiences, enabling you to maximise adoption and participation within SPACES.

Community-Centric Approach - You know how to use your social media and storytelling expertise to build a sense of belonging and connection within SPACES through topics of personal passion and local interest.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION

Engagement Maestro - You have the know-how to cultivate a positive and inclusive environment, orchestrate meaningful connections, encourage interaction and build trust with your audience.

Social Listening - Your skills focus on your ability to listen and understand the community’s needs and interests. This allows you to foster discussions relevant to them.

Relationship Building - You’re a powerful communicator - a conversation catalyst with impeccable interpersonal skills - and a skilled trainer.

OVERALL IMPACT

Ear To The Ground - You’re able to build positive community connections and help choose topics that matter to our readers.

Insights - Your instinct to analyse a large amount of interactions and community discussions allows you to inform future content and strategies.

Drive Positive Change - Your passion for enhancing the community experience comes from your unique ability to leverage your connections, fostering collective impact.

Ideally, we’d like this role to work out of our Sault Ste. Marie office.
