Community Based Youth Services Team Lead – F/T Foundry Kelowna

CMHA Kelowna is hiring a full time Community Based Youth Services Team Lead to join Foundry Kelowna. This position is full-time, offering 37.5 hours per week. Hours of work are currently Monday to Friday, 8:00am-4:00pm with occasional work in the evenings. 

 

WHO IS THE COMMUNITY BASED YOUTH SERVICES TEAM LEAD? 

The Community Based Youth Services Team Lead at Foundry Kelowna has a passion for youth and a desire to reach those in vulnerable situations struggling with mental health issues, housing and employment difficulties. They have experience working in the social sector and can lead a team to meet diverse needs, and resource youth in our community.  

 

WHAT DOES THE COMMUNITY BASED YOUTH SERVICES TEAM LEAD DO? 

The Community Based Youth Services Team Lead oversees and coordinates our Youth Navigation, Foundry Wellness on Wheels (FWOW) and Foundry Works and Education programs. This role will supervise a dedicated team to ensure the smooth operation of these programs, providing outreach and essential support to individuals facing mental health and/or substance abuse challenges. Barriers to employment and/or navigating systems and services. Collaboration with other departments and community partners will be key in delivering comprehensive services. 
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Develop and implement program policies and procedures, including service standards and evaluation processes  
  • Monitor program outcomes, analyzing data to recommend improvements and assess client care outcomes  
  • Develop program evaluation framework to identify strengths and areas for improvement  
  • Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability 
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, including confidentiality and privacy laws  
  • Write reports on programs and services for senior management and funders, including presentations to health and community partners. 
  • Supervise and support Youth Navigation, FWOW, and Foundry Works to ensure high-quality service delivery   
  • Provide training, orientation, and ongoing professional development to enhance staff capabilities  
  • Nurture a positive team environment focused on continuous learning, effective communication, and collaboration   
  • Respond to staff needs, providing debriefing and support during crisis or critical incidents    
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, including healthcare providers, schools, and social service agencies  
  • Coordinate and lead engagement strategies to enhance access to services for families and young people   
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify service gaps and develop solutions. 
  • performs other related duties and tasks as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:  

  • Degree in social work, counseling, Child and youth care, or a related profession    
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in social services or a related field, particularly with youth and family systems of care. 
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR and Naloxone are considered an asset.  
  • Previous leadership and management experience is considered an asset 
  • Class V BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple responsibilities and setting priorities   
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop strategies addressing service gaps.  
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills  
  • Knowledge of youth navigation, Foundry works and education (IPS) model, and foundry wellness on wheels, with familiarity in mental health and substance abuse issues.  
  • Knowledge of data analysis and program evaluation methodologies  
  • Familiarity with budgeting and expenditure processes · Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems (TELUS CHR preferred)  
  • Knowledge of community resources.  
  • Leadership in managing a multidisciplinary team and fostering professional growth   
  • Advocacy for individuals with mental health and substance abuse challenges    
  • Ability to maintain consistent professional boundaries
